Best High School Memory: When the sprinklers went off on the last day of sophomore band camp and Ruiz let us run through them to celebrate. Best High School Memory: When I had finally done the senior salute and seeing everyone so proud of the seniors for all of their work throughout these years. As well as seeing all of the parents there, including mine, taking pictures of this beautiful moment. Message to Freshmen: You should join band because it’s a great opportunity to improve your talent of being a musician or if you are wanting to learn from scratch, then it is a great chance to bring out a talent you never knew you had within you because everyone has great potential, as Ruiz always told us. Best High School Memory: Sophomore year when the band went to Disneyland. My section leader and I snuck a whole chest game onto space mountain with cut out pictures of Dr.Ruiz and Mr. V. By the end of the ride, most of the chest pieces flew off the board but to us, it was a success. Message to Freshmen: You should join band because not only could you create a bond with people you never thought you would, but you also join a second family which you share memories with. Best High School Memory: One time I needed some of my council members to participate in an event and no one would volunteer. I had to think of something that would be fun for me to watch, but also got me the volunteers I needed. So I said “Last one to drop volunteers”, and everyone dropped so fast. That’s when I realized how much power I had over these people. Message to Freshmen: You should join band because although it’s a lot of hard work and efforts, the program makes up for it with the relationships you make. 5 Year Plan: Become a high school math teacher. Best High School Memory: Having my last dismissal at the Pomona Christmas Parade and hugging the people that have been there for me from the beginning. All of the love in one night reminded me how much I admire everything my friends and family do for me. Message to Freshmen: You should join band because you have a group of people who are willing to help you succeed and will create amazing and thoughtful memories with the people you are with 24/7. Best High School Memory: I will always remember the happiness I felt while dancing to the jazz band after our final performance at the end of the spring concert.
